Sylva, Kyari Meet U.S. Bureau Of Energy, Seeks Financing In Upstream Sector

In a bid to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari accompanied the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva to a meeting with the Assistant Secretary of State in the US Department of State Bureau of Energy, Francis Fannon.

The meeting held on the sidelines of the 2020 Binational Commission (BNC) in Washington centred on upstream investments issues as well as securing support for the corporation’s infrastructure projects.

During the commission’s engagements, the duo also held strategic meetings with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, Director for Africa, Worku Gachou and other top executives to seek financing for NNPC projects and to deepen investor relations that will culminate in investments in Nigeria.

Established ten years ago, the commission is an engagement platform between Governments of the United States and Nigeria to expand cooperation and advance shared goals.

The 2020 BNC was tagged “Innovation and Ingenuity” to reflect the entrepreneurial and inventive spirit shared by the Nigerian and American
