Taiwan Researchers Invent Chip To Detect Cancer In 30 Minutes

A new study has given birth to a nano-particle chip that can detect proteins related to cancer in 30 minutes.

This was developed in a research led by Jen Chunping, from Taiwan’s Chung Cheng University.

Cancerous patients have some specific proteins in their bodies, which are called tumour markers and can only be detected when are highly concentrated during the middle and later stages of the disease.

However, chunping claimed that the chip is capable of detecting this protein in the bloodstream of cancer patients when they are still in the early stages of the disease.

He further said that it saves time compared to the screening process because it requires just five microliters of blood or urine and a low voltage application of about 36 volts to analyze the test and thus detect the tumour markers.

Meanwhile, the researchers said they are set to collaborate with Russian researchers to use the technology to detect other diseases like Alzheimer.
