Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Alex Ogbonnia, made available to THE WHISTLER in Enugu, stated that the security network, created initially by Southeast governors to tackle insecurity in the region, would improve the security situation in Ebonyi State.

According to the statement, “The Ebubeagu security outfit has a direct link with the families, hamlets, villages, town union executives and the traditional rulers of all the communities within the jurisdiction.

“The security consciousness and network of the above levels of the Igbo community administration makes Ebubeagu very unique and imperative.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo commends Governor Umahi for his courage, assertiveness, vision and granite commitment and determination to take Ebonyi State to the next level.”

Our correspondent recalls that the president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Ambassador George Obiozor, in his Christmas and New Year’s message to Ndigbo on December 17, 2021, called upon Southeast governors to keep to their promise ‘by rolling out Ebubeagu security outfit before December 31, 2021’.

He had said, “This will go a long way to enhance the security situation in the Southeast.”

Obiozor therefore congratulated Governor Umahi on actualising the security project, and called on other southeast governors to ‘roll out their Ebubeagu outfits without further delay’.
