A taxi driver simply identified as Balogun, who suffered depression as a result of losing his car to a fire incident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has smiled again after a foundation replaced his demaged car with a new one.
THE WHISTLER learnt that the incident happened in June 2020 along Ada George road in the Rivers State capital. The cause of the fire could not be traced.
Balogun had lamented after the incident that he did not know how to continue to meet his family’s needs as the car was his only source of livelihood.
Unknowing to Balogun that help was on the way, Lopeziyke Foundation, a philanthropic foundation, is said to have replaced the man’s car upon reading about his helpless situation.
Speaking in a phone interview with THE WHISTLER on Friday, the foundation’s founder, Mr. Lopez Okwu, said his organization was able to assist the taxi driver with a used vehicle to get him back on track.
“We visited him after the incident and through the help of well meaning Nigerians’ assistance, we were able to get him a fairly used car to atleast get him going.
“He brought the car to my place of work to show appreciation and thank the foundation,” said Okwu.
