Three Niger State Executive Council Members Test Positive For COVID-19

The Niger State Task Force on COVID-19 has confirmed report that three members of the Niger State Executive Council have tested positive For COVID-19.

The three commissioners were confirmed infected after they had displayed signs of the disease last week.

Members of the State Executive Council who attended meetings with the infected persons and staff of their respective ministries have reportedly apprehensive over the development following a directive that they should all go for covid-19 test.

Two of the commissioners reported to have tested positive are from the Niger South Senatorial Zone while the third is from Niger East Senatorial District.

The three commissioners had already gone into isolation.

While confirming the development, the chairman of the Task Force on Covid-19 in the state, Ibrahim Matane said: “All those that attended the last state executive council meeting, including the supporting staff, are to be tested.

“All commissioners have been directed to go for COVID-19 test,” Matane added.
