Tiwa Savage Turns 41 And She’s Not Running Away From It
Nigerian songstress, Tiwatope Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, turned 41 years old on Friday.
At 41, there’s no gainsaying that the Lagos-born singer and mother of one has done well for herself musically.
In an interview with ‘The Dotty Show’ on Apple Music 1, Tiwa Savage had said while many women run away from making their real age public, she never feels any pressure to keep hers a secret.
The singer, however, admitted that she was scared of what the future held when she was about turning 40 years old last year.
“I was so scared and I said, God, if this is it, if really, really, truly this is it, then just give me a sign. And he gave me the opposite, he gave me opportunities, I had a record with Sam Smith, and it’s like so many other things that are happening that have never happened in my 20s.
“So, God was saying to me age has nothing to do with that, and every platform, every interview, I have I always name dropped my age because I feel like a lot of people run away from it. So I always tell people, this is how old I am in case you find out outside, I’m going to let you know first,” she had said about turning 40 years old.
Despite the crash of her marriage to ex-husband, Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun, barely two years after they held an elaborate wedding ceremony at the Armani Hotel in Dubai, Tiwa Savage had gone on to win several awards including the coveted ‘Best African Act’ award at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards.
