Troops Kill Notorious Bandit Dogo Gede, Others In Zamfara

Notorious armed bandits kingpin in Zamfara State, Dogo Gede and his boys may have been killed after the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji destroyed their camp at Kwayanbana Forest in the state.

A statement issued by Defence Headquarters, said the air strikes were conducted under Operation ACCORD.

The statement also said the strikes followed Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports and series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which had “established that a group of makeshift structures hidden under the dense forest vegetation as well as the caves in the surrounding high grounds serve as hideout for the armed bandits and their notorious kingpin, Dogo Gede.”

The statement gave details of how the strike was carried out, saying “Consequently, the Air Component  dispatched a force package of attack aircraft and helicopter gunships to engage the location, leading to the destruction of the makeshift structures as well as the neutralization of several of the armed bandits.”

Furthermore, the statement conveyed the commendation of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), to the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI for their professionalism and urged them to remain resolute in the conduct of air strikes.

Dogo Gede was believed to be the mastermind for the killing of his former ally, Buharin Daji, also a notorious cattle rustling kingpin some years ago.
