Trump Claims Iran War Victory Near, Vows Final Hard Strikes

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that U.S. military objectives in the war against Iran are nearing completion, declaring the country’s forces “largely decimated” while warning that a final wave of heavy strikes could follow if no agreement is reached.

In a prime-time national address, Trump described the campaign as delivering “swift, decisive, overwhelming victories” unseen in modern warfare. He claimed Iran’s navy is “gone,” its air force “in ruins,” most top leaders are dead, missile capabilities are “dramatically curtailed,” and weapons factories and rocket launchers have been largely destroyed.

“Never in the history of warfare has an enemy suffered such clear and devastating large scale losses in a matter of weeks,” he said.

Despite the gains, Trump signalled further escalation, saying U.S. forces would “hit them extremely hard” over the next two to three weeks if talks fail.

He added that key infrastructure, including electric power facilities, could be targeted, while insisting Iran currently lacks the capacity to defend itself.

“We have all the cards. They have none,” he said.

The president framed the operation as necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, which he described as an “intolerable threat.” He warned that any attempt to rebuild nuclear capabilities would be met with immediate military action.

Trump also pointed to earlier actions taken against Iran, including the killing of General Qassem Soleimani and the withdrawal from the nuclear agreement negotiated under former President Barack Obama. He said previous strikes on nuclear facilities had already dealt significant damage to Iran’s programme.

According to Trump, the current campaign is aimed at dismantling Iran’s ability to threaten the United States or support proxy groups across the region.

He confirmed that 13 American service members had been killed in the operation and said their deaths underscored the need to complete the mission.

Trump compared the 32-day operation favourably to much longer past U.S. wars, including World War II, Vietnam and Iraq. He said Iran once the “bully of the Middle East” had been “eviscerated” and was “really no longer a threat.”

He also thanked regional allies including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain for their support.

The conflict, which began on February 28, 2026, has caused disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and driven up global oil prices. Trump predicted prices would “rapidly come back down” once the fighting ends and the strait reopens naturally.

While U.S. officials have highlighted significant battlefield gains, independent verification of the full extent of the damage to Iran’s military capabilities remains limited, and analysts warn the situation could still escalate.
