Trump Optimistic On China Trade Talks

United States President, Donald Trump has expressed optimism on the US-China trade talks.

Trump, who spoke to reporters after the wrap up of the talks with the Chinese delegation at the White House, noted that the negotiation will yield result.

“We had very, very good negotiation with China,” Trump said.

The talk kicked off amid renewed tensions, as the US blacklisted 28 Chinese entities over human rights concern.

Recall that the US government had imposed additional visa restrictions for Chinese government officials following human right abuses.

China in a statement through their Washington Embassy denounced the visa action and maintained that the US accusations on human rights violation were “made-up pretext ” for interfering in the affairs of China.

According to reports, the negotiations were the first high level negotiations in more than two months.

Present during the negotiation talk include the US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin , Lui He and other Chinese officials.

On his part, Lui told the official Xinhua news agency that, “the Chinese side came with great sincerity, willing to cooperate with the US on the trade and balance, market access and investor protection.”

The ripple effect of the negotiation was a rise in the Asian Markets following Wall Street higher.

Meanwhile, Trump will meet with Vice Premier Lui at the White House on Friday 11 October.
