THE WHISTLER had earlier reported that the manufacturers of pocket-size sachet alcoholic drinks of 200ml and below have defied an initial agreement to stop production on January 31, 2024,

The move prompted NAFDAC to commence the ban and confiscation of the product in circulation from February 1, 2024.

But the National President of FOBTOB, Jimoh Oyibo, alongside the Secretary-General of TUC, Nuhu Toro, said the protest was a peaceful one, and the union wants to submit its demands to the regulatory agency.

The demand seen by THE WHISTLER was signed by Comrade Oyibo and the Executive Secretary FOBTOB Solomon Adebosin.

The group is demanding an immediate reversal of the ban as well as consultation with stakeholders in the sector as regards the ban.

It is also demanding improved campaign on responsible drinking and discouraging underage alcohol consumption.
