Twitter Reacts As Hollywood Icon Cicely Tyson Dies At 96

American actress and fashion model, Cicely Tyson, has died at the age of 96.

Tyson’s death was confirmed on by her manager, Larry Thompson.

“I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing,” Thompson said on Thursday, adding that, “Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments of her personal and professional life. Today she placed the last ornament, a Star, on top of the tree.”

The Hollywood icon the first African-American woman to win an honorary Academy Award.

With a career spanning more than seven decades, she became known for her portrayal of strong African-American women and distinguished herself in theater, film and television.
