Ajao Estate in Lagos was on Tuesday hit by gas explosion which caused the death of two persons. .
According to reports, the accident happened after a 62-year-old woman, who owned a cooking gas shop, and her 32-year-old daughter were called back on their way home to attend to a “regular customer” who came to fill a gas cylinder.
Confirming the incident, Director General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency received a distress call and rushed to the scene of the event.
“The agency received distress calls and upon arrival of the Agency’s officials at the incident scene, it was discovered that there was an explosion at the aforementioned location.
“Investigations revealed that the explosion originated from a shop occupied by a gas refilling business. A total of nine shops were affected by the inferno,” he said.
The incident however led to the death of two persons, with several others injured and shops burnt.
