Two Die In Anambra Fatal Auto-Crash

Two male adults yesterday lost their lives in a fatal motor accident near Odumodu junction, along Awka-Onitsha expressway in Anambra State. The accident occurred at about 1755hrs, and involved a Toyota Hiace bus belonging to Young Shall Grow Motors with enlistment number AAA 863XJ and two motorcycles with registration numbers NSK 808 QT and AA 863 XJ.

The sector public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, RC Kamal Musa, in a statement made available to THE WHISLER in Awka, Monday, quoted eye eyewitnesses to have said that the crash was caused by over speeding.

According to him, “It also involved 13 persons, eight male adults and five female adults. Two male adults were killed while three female adults were injured. The victims were rushed to Iyeanu Hospital, Ogidi, and the dead victims were handed over to their families after being confirmed dead by the doctors.”

He said the FRSC operatives from Nteje Unit Command controlled the traffic to ensure free flow of vehicles while the Nigeria Police, Nteje, took the vehicle and motorcycles to their station for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, while condoling with the families of the dead and injured, warned   motorists to always maintain the stipulated speed limit on the highways to avoid road crashes.
