The Anambra State Police Command, Sunday evening, announced the arrest of a syndicate for allegedly abducting and killing a middle-aged man, one Henry Okam, at Okija in Anambra State.
The names of the three member syndicate were given as Obasi Faith Ezinne, ‘f’, aged 23, of Mbaitolu Imo State; Ntomchukwu Anabaraonye, ‘m’, aged 33 years old, of Okija, and Abuchi Obinna, ‘m’, aged 26 years old, of Ihiala, Anambra State.
A statement from the police public relations officer of the state command, SP Haruna Mohammed, said the arrest followed an intensive manhunt and actionable intelligence by the police operatives attached to the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

According to the statement, “The suspects had on the 30/8/2020 allegedly abducted one Henry Okam, ‘m’, aged 34 years old, of Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. They also killed the victim with a pomp action gun, and subsequently buried him in a shallow grave.”
Mr Mohammed said the suspects, who voluntarily confessed to the crime, took the operatives to a thick forest at Ihiala where the decomposing body of the victim was exhumed and recovered to the mortuary for autopsy after it was certified dead by a medical doctor.
He said the pomp action used by the suspects in perpetrating the heinous crime, including the victim’s phones, were also recovered in their possession and registered as exhibits, adding that the case was under investigation after which the suspects and their accomplices would be brought to book.
Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, CP John B. Abang, has reiterated that there was no hiding place for criminals in Anambra State, vowing that the command, under his watch, would continue to fish out and deal decisively with criminal elements in accordance with the law until they repent or relocate from the state.
