Two Remanded In Prison For Alleged Attempt To Murder Woman, Steal From Her

A Magistrate Court sitting,in Osogbo, Osun state on Tuesday ordered that Mujeem Adenle and Kamilu Olagunju be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre for alleged attempt to kill one Fatimah Suleiman.

The accused persons were also accused of an attempt to steal chickens and maize from the woman’s poultry.

The duo was alleged to have committed the offence on February 2, 2021, at 12 noon at Isosu area of Ede in Osun State.

According to the charge sheet,the offence is contrary to section 516,509 of Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11 Law of Osun State 2002.

The prosecutor, Inspector Jacob Akintade, told the court that the defendant attempted to kill one septuagenarian woman and also attempted to steal her property.

The prosecutor stated to the court that one of the defendants is a neighbour to the woman.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them by the police..

Counsel for the defendants, Sunday Abolade Ismail, prayed the court to grant his clients bail in most liberal term, promising that they would stand their trial.

The woman prayed the court to discharge the defendants explaining that they are like children to her.

The Magistrate, Ishola Omishade, however, denied the accused persons bail application and ordered that they should be reminded in Ilesa Correctional Centre..

He adjourned the case to 17th February 17, 2021 for hearing.
