U.S., EU Space Agencies Send Rocket Towards The Sun For Groundbreaking Research

The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) and the European Space Agency (ESA) have sent a space rocket towards the Sun.

ESA scientist, Daniel Mueller, made the disclosure on Sunday, after the rocket took off from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The rocket is expected to spend ten years in space, reaching at least 26 million miles from the sun’s surface.

The Sun is at an average distance of about 93 million miles (150 million kilometers) away from earth.

Mueller said that the project is geared towards making new discoveries about the sun, the stars and how its radiation affects the earth and other planets

“This was picture perfect; and suddenly you really felt you are connected to the rest of the solar system,” he added.

Reuters reports that the new probe built by NASA and the European Space Agency set off on a blazing hot journey to the sun to take the first close-up look at the star’s polar regions, a mission expected to yield insight into its solar radiant energy.

On his part, NASA Official, Holly Gilbert said that the rare project is one of a kind.

“I have been in solar physics for many years; I just never thought I would actually witness something come to fruition like this and actually launch,It’s amazing,” he said.

Furthermore, the space agency set out on such mission so as to find out how astronauts can be protected from the sun’s radiation during space voyage, as that has been a major stumbling block to researchers for decades.

According to NASA, space exploration helps humans to explore the unknown, discover new worlds, push the boundaries of scientific and technical limits, for the betterment of the earth.
