“We look forward to the Lagos State government’s response as part of a process that represents an important mechanism of accountability regarding the #EndSARS protests and the events that took place near the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020. Those events led to serious allegations against some members of the security forces, and we look forward to the Lagos State and federal governments taking suitable measures to address those alleged abuses as well as the grievances of the victims and their families,” it stated.

Recall that the panel submitted its report to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday.

The report contains over 20 recommendations which include the prosecution and dismissal of officers found indicted.

The federal and state governments are also advised to sensitize the public about curfew regulations while adding that police operatives should be given better professional trainings and increased funding, among other things.

“The panel recommends that October 20th of every year, the day is made a “Toll Free Day” at the Lekki Toll Gate as long as the tollgate exists.

“That Oct 20th of every year be made EndSARS day Nationally for the remembrance of our falling youth.

“That for the purpose of restitution, healing and reconciliation the federal government needs to publicly apologize to the youth for abruptly undermining the protest with their state actors,” the report stated.
