U.S Replies Putin: ‘Our Defence Capabilities Are And Will Remain Second To None’

The U.S. says its nuclear power capabilities remains second to none in spite of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement that his new nuclear weapons are invincible.

The U.S., in responding to Putin’s nuclear threats, also said there was nothing new in his recent nuclear weapons declarations but what it had always known.

Speaking at his annual state-of-the-nation address in Moscow, Putin boasted about an array of new weapons that he said would make Russia’s nuclear arsenal “invulnerable” to interception.

However, White House said Russia’s attempts to modernise its nuclear force came as no surprise and would do little to rattle the U.S.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said: “President Putin has confirmed what the United States government has known all along.

“Russia has been developing destabilising weapons systems for over a decade in direct violation of its treaty obligations.

“America is moving forward to modernise our nuclear arsenal and make sure our capabilities aren’t being matched,” she added, noting the new 700 billion dollars U.S. military budget.

U.S. Department of State also said Putin had confirmed what the U. S. nited government had known for a long time, that Russia had denied prior to this time.

Spokesperson for the Department Heather Nauert stressed that “Russia has been developing destabilising weapon systems for more than a decade, in direct violation of its treaty obligations.

“President Trump understands the threats facing America and our allies in this century and is determined to protect our homeland and preserve peace through strength.

“U.S. defence capabilities are and will remain second to none. We have a new defence budget that’s over 700 billion dollars.

“We believe that our military will be stronger than ever. The President’s nuclear posture review addressed some of this”.

Pentagon also largely dismissed questions about Russia’s capabilities at a news conference on Thursday, shrugging at Putin’s boast of nuclear-powered cruise missile with unlimited range

“These weapons that are discussed have been in development a long time,” said Pentagon spokesperson Dana White.

“We weren’t surprised by his statements. And the American people should rest assured that we are fully prepared,” she added.
