UK Lawmaker Stabbed To Death By Constituent


A United Kingdom parliamentarian, David Amess has died as a result of multiple stabbing at his constituency.


BBC reports that the police recovered a knife at the scene of the incident.

Police authorities say a suspect has been apprehended.


Reacting to the development, his co-parliamentarian, Iain Duncan Smith MP described his death as an unfortunate one for the country.


“Shocked to hear my long time good friend/colleague has died as a result of a desperate attack in his surgery doing what all MPs have a duty to do: looking out for their constituents often as a last hope when all else has failed. My prayers go out to his family,” he tweeted.


Checks by our correspondent on Amess’ personal website showed that he earlier notified that he would be at the vicinity.

“My next surgery will be taking place on Friday 15th October at Belfairs Methodist Church, 251 Eastwood Road North, Leigh-on-Sea, SS9 4NG,” a statement on his website read.
