UK To Relax Visa Laws For Nigerian Doctors, Nurses

British Prime Minister, Theresa May, has heeded petitions to scrap the United Kingdom’s visa limit for non-EU medical doctors and nurses.

This was according to the Deputy Chief Executive of NHS Providers, Saffron Cordery, who told BBC Radio in an interview on Thursday that the limit of 20,700 per year set for non-EU skilled workers is set to be raised.

According to Cordery, the move is to allow for the inflow of more medical practitioners which the NHS is badly in need of.

“This is going to be a huge relief for trusts up and down the country who have been really struggling to fill their doctors and nurses vacancies,” Cordery said

“Lifting the visa cap for foreign doctors and nurses is absolutely the right decision and a huge relief.”

The development will see changes will in the Tier 2 visas which are used by skilled workers from outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland.
