Ukraine Stun Ten-man Sweden To Reach Euro Quarterfinal

Ukraine has shocked ten-man Sweden with a win to book a place at the quarter finals against England after an encounter that ended 2-1.

Ukraine claimed the spot after a hectic round of 16 at Euro 2020 in Glasgow and are set to battle England in Rome.

The Swedes entered the match as the favorites after a first-place finish in Group D, while Ukrain’s win against North Macedonia earned it to the final qualifying spot among the best third-place teams.

Ukraine coached by Andriy Shevchenko opened the scoring with a goal from Oleksandr Zinchenko after 27 minutes of the game.

Sweden’s Emil Forsberg strike delivered the equalizer at the 43rd minute. Thanks to Hampden wild who fed the ball from 25 yards.

After a tough struggle for a lead, both teams went all even at half time.

Ukraine hit the woodwork at the 54th minute from a shot from Yarmolenko, while Sweden’s goal scorer also spanked one at Ukraine’s post two minutes later.

Again Forsberg’s 69th minute strike displaced Ukraine’s goalkeeper, but the ball hit the woodwork.

Things went sour for Sweden after the center half, Marcus Danielso, was sent off in the 9th minute of the extra time due to a challenge on Besedin.

Although Sweden looked unorganized, the teams could not be separated immediately after the red card until a header from Artem Dovbyk gave Shevchenko team the lead.
