UN At 75: Trump Attacks China, Insists Beijing Responsible For Covid-19 Spread

No Country Should Stigmatise Another, Says Xi Jinping

President of the United States, Donald Trump, has urged the United Nations (UN) to hold China responsible for the spread of the coronavirus and the devastation it is causing around the world.

Trump made the call on Tuesday at the ongoing UN 75th General Assembly.

Trump alleged that the Chinese Government deliberately transmitted the virus with the aim of destroying other countries.

“As we pursue this bright future, we must hold accountable the nation which unleashed this plague unto the world – China.

“In the earliest days of the virus, China locked down travel domestically while allowing flights to leave China and infect the world.

“China condemned my travel ban on their country even as they cancelled domestic flights and locked citizens in their homes,” Trump said.

He also claimed that the World Health Organisation (WHO) had bought into China’s lies, thereby spreading alleged disinformation about the virus around the world.

“The Chinese Government and the World Health Organization which is virtually controlled by China falsely declared that there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission; later they falsely said people without symptoms would not spread the disease.

“The United Nations must hold China accountable for their actions,” Trump said.

More so, Trump assured that his country would defeat the virus.

He also stressed that the pandemic would end.

“Three vaccines are in the final stage of clinical trials and we are mass producing them in advance so they could be delivered immediately upon arrival.

“We will distribute the vaccine, we will defeat the virus; we will end the pandemic and we will enter a new era of unprecedented prosperity, cooperation and peace,” Trump said.

But, on his part, China’s President, Xi Jinping on Tuesday, maintained that the UN should not allow any country to stigmatise another over the coronavirus pandemic.

“Mr. President, facing the virus, we should enhance solidarity and get this through together.

“We should follow the guidance of science, give full play to the leading role of the World Health Organization, and launch a joint international response to beat this pandemic.

“Any attempt of politicising the issue or stigmatising must be rejected,” he said.

Jinping also claimed that China was not scheming to overrun other countries.

He assured that China would continue to pursue global development.

“China is the largest developing country in the world, a country that is committed to peaceful, open, cooperative and common development.

“We will never seek hegemony, expansion, or sphere of influence; we have no intention to fight either a Cold War or a hot war with any country.

“We will continue to narrow differences and resolve disputes with others through dialogue and negotiation.

” We do not seek to develop only ourselves or engage in a zero-sum game. We will not pursue development behind closed doors,” he said.

THE WHISTLER recalls that WHO had denied backing up China regarding the covid-19 issue.

WHO furthered maintained that no nation should be stigmatised because of it.

As of the time of this report, 31,555,356 Covid-19 cases, 970,616 related deaths and 23,168,685 recoveries has been confirmed globally, according to latest Worldometer data.
