Unizik Bus Collides With Anambra Vigilante Hilux, One Injured

A vehicle belonging to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Monday, collided with a bus owned by the Anambra State vigilante group at Abba, after Ukpo Police Station, injuring a female adult in the process. Twenty-nine persons were involved in the accident.

A release by the sector education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, RC Florence Edor, stated that, “The crash involved an Innoson pickup owned by the Anambra Vigilante Services with vehicle registration number 02E-678AN, and a 608 coaster bus owned by Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, with registration number AE478ABS. An eyewitness report said the crash was a result of over-speeding and wrongful overtaking.”

Our correspondent gathered that one female adult sustained injuries and was taken to Ukpo General Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, CC Andrew A Kumapayi, while wishing the injured quick recovery, admonished motorists to avoid wrongful overtaking and over-speeding.
