US Cancels 3 Nigerian Lawmakers Visas Over Sexual Misconduct In Cleveland

The US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle conveyed the information through a petition he addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

In the petition, Entwistle, said that while the lawmakers lodged at a Cleveland Hotel to attend the International Visitors Leadership Program, Honorable Gololo grabbed the housekeeper of the hotel they lodged in and solicited for sex while the other two lawmakers asked the hotel parking lot attendants to help them get prostitutes.

Entwistle said that as punishments for their misconducts, the US government has cancelled their visa, barring them from entering the country.

Following receipt of the petition, Dogara, set up a panel of enquiry into the matter.

A statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas, noted that when the investigation is completed, Nigerians will be briefed on the matter.

He said, “We are in receipt of a letter from the US Ambassador, alleging misconduct by some members of the National Assembly, who attended training in the United States of America.

“The leadership of the House has commenced its own part of the investigation. When it is concluded, we will brief Nigerians further on this issue.

“When we say we will conduct an investigation, we will conduct it and there will be a report,” Namdas stated.
