US Election: Trump’s Black Supporter Keeps Hope Alive But Moghalu Urges President To Embrace Reality

Black American General Physician, Dr. Stella Emmanuel and former presidential aspirant, Kingsley Moghalu, on Saturday, took opposing views regarding media projections of United States’ President-elect, Joe Biden.

The US media had reported that Biden secured 306 Electoral College votes at the November 3 polls.

But Emmanuel, a Donald Trump supporter who had once recommended hydroxychloroquine, zinc and zithromax as a cure for Covid-19, maintained that the announcement of the winner of the US presidential election was not the exclusive reserve of the media.

The doctor, who has expressed strong support for President Trump, shared a video via her Twitter page, urging Republicans not to be dismayed at how the election was going, but to keep praying.

“Stand strong. Don’t be discouraged. It’s not the media that decides who is president. We will prevail. Keep praying for the nation and covering President Trump in prayer,” she tweeted.

However, Moghalu, sharing his thoughts on the US election on Twitter on Saturday, stressed that the US media have been projecting the winner of an election over the years.

He stressed that it is in Trump’s best interest to allow peaceful transition to take it course.

“Election results are ‘called’ and projected by the media in the US based on ACTUAL vote tallies and projections of outstanding voting outcomes. This has been a tradition for at least 70 years. It is respected by all the political parties contesting.

“The formal certification, as well as the formal casting of ballots of votes by the Electors of the Electoral College, are formalities and legal requirements, but do not prevent the winner of the vote counts in presidential elections from being formally addressed (and even recognized by law) as President-Elect.

“By 2.30 a.m. on November 8, 2016, the Associates Press, CNN and other media had called the presidential election for Donald Trump on the very same basis set out above,” he tweeted.

Trump has refused to concede defeat and instead filed lawsuits challenging the legality of the election.
