Uzodimma Commissions Covid-19 Testing Centre in Owerri

According to a statement by the media adviser to the governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, the testing centre, Everight Diagnostic, is certified by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Recall that the NCDC had issued guidelines to private laboratories in states wishing to conduct Covid-19 test.

The governor explained during the commissioning that Imo would be further encouraged to carry out more tests with the new centre, adding that it “is now more prepared than ever in the fight to stop the deadly disease from discomforting Imo people.”

He said the testing centre in Owerri would save the state the huge cost of taking COVID-19 samples to Abakiliki, Ebonyi State for tests.

He added that in two weeks time, the state would be commissioning another of such centres that would be provided by NCDC.

Uzodimma commended the management of Everight Laboratories for their doggedness in realizing the project, and expressed appreciation to NCDC for their support to ensure that Imo State was adequately prepared to fight the deadly virus.

The Chairman of the laboratory, Everest Okpara, however appreciated the governor for making out time to commission the centre personally, an act he described as a show of love and protection for the people of the state.
