VALENTINE: What Nigerian Ladies Spend To Celebrate Love

February 14 is Valentine’s Day, an annual festival to show love and celebrate friendship, and Nigerians also invest in the day.

According to statistics posted by StatiSense, a data company, 91% of Nigerians celebrate Valentine’s Day while only 9% do not.

 According to the data, the average Nigerian woman spends N10,000 on gifts, while the average Nigerian male spends N22,154. 

Nigerians generally celebrate the day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family and friends, and expect same.

Couples send Valentine’s Day cards and flowers and spend special time together to honour their love for each other.  

But while Nigerian women spend less than their male partners on Valentine’s Day, StatiSense says in some countries such as Germany and Sweden, women spend more than their men.

In Sweden women spend an average of $75(N27,225) while the men spend average of $43(N15,609). 

In Germany women even spend higher, an average of $88(N31,944) while the men spend $62(N22,506)
