[VIDEO] Murder Case: I Was Forced To Implicate Shehu Sani – Suspect

The suspect who allegedly named Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, in a murder case has confessed to being forced to incriminate the lawmaker by some Nigerian soldiers.

Speaking with TheCable, Isa Garba absolved Senator Sani of being involved in the killing of one Lawan Maiduna in the state.

Garba said the soldiers forcefully cornered him to a farm along the Kaduna-Abuja road and asked him to accused the lawmaker of hiring one Bashir Hamdada to kill Maiduna.

“I was away from Kaduna but military invited me to come over and identify some persons who were arrested over the alleged murder of the said person. Immediately I got there, the military began to torture me and insisted that I must mention Shehu Sani as the person who sponsored the murder,” the suspect said in Hausa language.

“I never knew Bashir Hamdada, let alone the matter at all. But, I was tortured and forced to make a statement to implicate the senator in the alleged murder. I spent two weeks facing a series of torture under the military before I was taken to Kaduna state CID.

“At Kaduna police CID, I spent a month and was later taken to prison. Luckily, I was granted bail… I was accused without any evidence. I can swear to God that Shehu Sani doesn’t know me. Even if he passes here today, he does not know what I look like yet they insisted that I must implicate him. Soldiers and some policemen have dealt with me seriously over this issue… I have seen hell in in their attempt to coerce me to implicate Senator Sani,” he said.

 

Senator Sani had previously in a Facebook post accused Governor Nasir El-Rufai of being behind the allegations linking him to the murder case.

“Governor Elrufai, using the Police or the military to frame me will not give you the comfort you desperately need.You sue me in four courts for defamation and now you are up for another mischief of so-called Homicide.You shall fail as you always do.All your antics and use of state power and resources to stain me will not work.We will continue to fight your tyranny, arrogance and contempt against our people in Kaduna.Your plots,lies and frame up will not work.You will be exposed in a matter of days.Your name is failure and it will remain so,” he said.

Meanwhile, Garba’s confession may give credence to the allegation by retired General T.Y Danjuma that some Nigerian soldiers collude with herdsmen to kill innocent citizens.
