American rapper Meek Mill debuted a new song “Stay Woke” with a blistering performance at the BET Awards on Sunday night
The song, which features Miguel, is the rapper’s first new music since his release from prison in April.
In one of the nights’ most memorable segments, the Philadelphia-bred rapper used the performance to criticise gun violence, criminal justice, and the role of police in America’s black community.
Meek Mill additionally wore a hoodie with the pictures of late rappers XXXTentacion and Jimmy Wopo–both of whom were killed in separate incidents.
The 2018 BET Awards were held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles
