VW Car Owners To Get $1000 In Gift Cards and Vouchers

In its ongoing effort to win back customer’s trust following a fallout from a growing emissions scandal, German Automaker, Volkswagen (VW) announced that it will give U.S owners of the small diesel-powered cars involved in the emissions cheating scandal, $1,000 in gift cards and vouchers.

The ‘goodwill package’ consist of a $500 prepaid Visa card, an additional $500 redeemable at VW dealers and three years of free roadside assistance.

This was disclosed by the Company’s U.S. CEO, Michael Horn, who said VW is doing everything in its power to rectify the affected cars.

He said: “We are working tirelessly to develop an approved remedy for affected vehicles.

“In the meantime, we are providing this goodwill package as a first step towards regaining our customers’ trust.”

Eligible diesel models include 2009 to 2015 model year Jettas; 2010 to 2015 Golfs; 2012 to 2015 Beetles; and 2012 to 2015 Passats powered with 2-liter engines.

The Company also said its Audi luxury brand would launch the same program on Friday.

VW is also offering cash and no-interest loans to its roughly 650 dealerships that are stuck with cars that can’t be sold but are taking up space in their lots.

It is also encouraging dealers to offer pre-scandal prices on trade-ins and has promised to make up the difference in value.
