WAEC: Best Student In Nigeria Explains Success In WASSCE

The Second Best Student in the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination 2020 in Nigeria, Ayooluwa Adebowale,has revealed the strategy she adopted to excel in the final examinations.

The Overall Best Student, Morenike Yinka-Banjo, who is studying Computational Biology in Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States of America, has A1 in eight subjects. She scored a total of 606.3196 but could not attend the West African Examination Council celebration for the winners.

Adebowale , who is currently studying in the University of Ibadan also scored eight A1 like the overall best student but had a total of 601.2198.

She told our correspondent in an interview on the sidelines of the celebration that she started studying seriously for the final examinations from the time she got to SS1.

The student said, “I am a product of help and hardwork. I am not on scholarship now but I have applied for a number of scholarships.

“I took my studies seriously and I became passionate about science subjects , Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths.

“I worked hard for the examinations. My teachers also helped me a great deal. We have very committed teachers who taught other students and I.

“The basic knowledge I acquired in SS1 was not lost at all and that was the foundation that helped me and I was able to build on it. That was why I was able to score that high in the exams. I can simply say I am a product of hard work and God’s favour.

“My advice to other students is that they should keep working hard and listen to the advice of their teachers and parents.”

Adebowale’s parents as well as the secondary school she attended, Emerald Laurel Comprehensive College, Ibadan and her parents were all proud of the student’s performance.
