WASSCE: COVID-19 Student Writes Exam From Isolation Centre In Gombe

A student who had tested positive for Covid-19 still sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Gombe State, which began today, Monday.

This was disclosed in a tweet by the Gombe State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC).

The lad was seen writing his first paper (Mathematics) in an isolation centre under the watch of an invigilator who was well-kitted.

“Health and education are a priority in Gombe State.

“A final year student of GSSS Gombe tested POSITIVE for COVID-19 and was isolated yesterday, today he is writing Mathematics SSCE while ensuring his invigilator is well protected”, PHEOC tweeted.

Recall that the federal government had directed schools to reopen so that exiting classes could seat for various examinations.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC), Chikwe Ihekwazu, in a Twitter reaction, lauded the workforce in the state for being thoughtful.

“Good work by our colleagues in #Gombe.
