We Are Not Recruiting, CBN Tells Job Seekers

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned job seekers to be wary of the scandalous activities of fraudsters who have claimed that the Bank is currently conducting recruitment exercises.

A statement signed by the Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Ibrahim Mu’azu, described any ongoing recruitment as fraudulent.

The statement said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the CBN is currently not carrying out general recruitment.

“The attention of the Bank has been drawn to activities of some fraudulent persons using the social media to misinform the public about a purported general recruitment exercise in the Bank.

“These dubious elements have also in the process collected money from some unsuspecting applicants under false pretext. The Bank does not receive money directly or through any representative for the purpose of job recruitment,” he said.

As is their norm, Mu’azu emphasised that the Bank will not embark on general recruitment exercise without due process, which will definitely be in accordance with the provisions of extant laws.

“Whenever the Bank is ready to do this it will be duly publicised through its website, and other media platforms available to it, without a fee.

“We therefore warn members of the public, particularly anxious applicants, to be wary of fraudsters, as anyone dealing with them would be doing so at his or her own risk,” he said.
