‘We Didn’t Bargain For This’ – Buhari’s Supporter Adamu Garba Fumes Over Katsina School Attack

A staunch supporter and defender of President Muhammadu Buhari, Adamu Garba, has expressed disappointment at the current administration’s failure to keep the north safe, saying the incessant reports of killings by terrorists and bandits in Northern Nigeria called for northern youths to “speak up”.

Garba, on Saturday, called on northern youths to voice out against worsening insecurity in the North until President Buhari wakes up to their call.

The former presidential aspirant urged youths from the region to ensure that the president received security briefing from them on the true situation of insecurity in the north, and not from his service chiefs.

Garba stated these after suspected bandits were said to have attacked the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State, on Friday, December 11, 2020, kidnapping several students.

At least 400 students went missing as the bandits shot sporadically for two hours before attacking the school, reports BBC Pidgin.

THE WHISTLER reports that the attack occurred on the same day President Buhari arrived at his Daura hometown in Katsina for a weeklong private visit.

Reacting in a series of tweets on Saturday, Garba said: “Dear Northern Youth, Speak up! Louder against the security situation in the North. Let the President hear security briefings from US today not his security chiefs, So SPEAK UP LOUDER!

“We cannot have the President when we die. Our President is for now, not even tomorrow, but NOW. We cannot continue to live in fear of traveling to our homes, visiting our villages, seeing our cousins and uncles and playing in the bush.

“This is not what we bargained for. 90% of our people need farms or livestock to survive, all of them are now in danger. So speak up louder!

“The problem of the [northern] youth is the problem of the youth all over the world: [what] the youth seeks from government is peace, security and opportunity. This isn’t gonna be available when we die.

“Like our southern brothers said; we are the #SoroSoke generation so now speak up!”
