We Have Not Started Sale Of FG Property–Malami

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, SAN, has challenged Nigerians with information on alleged syndicate group in the FMOJ that is purportedly selling federal government properties as claimed in some media reports to reveal it.

“Individuals, groups, companies, institutions or organizations that claimed to have associated with the alleged syndicate from the Federal Ministry of Justice in relation to purchase of houses, landed property, vehicles, vessels, plants and machineries belonging to the Federal Government are encouraged to come out with any information, evidence or document regarding the alleged sales,” he said.

The AGF, in a statement issued by Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations,FMOJ, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, on Tuesday denied being aware of such sale of properties.

“It is important to set the record straight that the office of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has not officially started the sale of Federal Government’s property,” Gwandu said.

In a bid to investigate the development, Malami set up a 5-member Committee chaired by the Director Public Prosecution of the Federation.

They are to, within one week, “ investigate the alleged sale of Federal Government of Nigeria’s Property by syndicate in the Ministry”, come up with its findings and make recommendations, if any.

A media platform (not THE WHISTLER) had reported that top justice ministry officials and aides to Malami were allegedly selling off some of FG properties in Abuja and Lagos.

It claimed that rather than return the proceeds to federal government coffers, they kept it to themselves.
