We Spent Only N100m For Melaye’s Failed Recall – INEC

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, on Friday, said the Commission spent only N100million on the failed attempt to recall Kogi-West lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye.

The INEC chairman made the revelation during a press conference held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Yakubu said the figure was nowhere near the N100 billion alleged to have been expended by the Peoples Democratic Party.

“A recall exercise is just like conducting a Senatorial election. The Kogi-West which Melaye represents has 552 polling units and seven local governments,” he said.

The INEC boss added that ad hoc staff were deployed in all the polling units.
