We Trust You To Reshape The Oil Industry, Total CEO Tells NNPC GMD

The Managing Director and country chair, Total E&P Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Mike Sangster has expressed the oil firm’s belief in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC), Group Managing Director (GMD), Mele Kyari, to proffer solutions that will reshape the oil and gas industry in the county.

Sangster, who led a delegation of the management staff of Total on a business visit to the NNPC management in Abuja, Nigeria noted that in partnership with NNPC, Total has developed the last 3FPSO’s in Nigeria adding that the company will love to build on this success.

Other members of the delegation include Imran Barry  Managing director downstream Total  Nigeria PLC, Patrick Olinma ED Asset Management and new energy and Abiodun Afolabi ED Corporate affairs and services.

“I will like to congratulate you on your appointment to this very important role. From what I have seen from all what you have said and what we have discussed, I think it is a goodwill for the NNPC, the oil industry and I consider it as  a benefit for  Nigeria as a whole.

 “You’ve set out very clear strategy for growing reserves and production in the industry, and from the total perspective, I think we have been in a long and successful partnership with the NNPC that we will very much love to continue,” Sangster said.

The two oil companies, however, expressed their readiness to work together to grow daily national crude oil and gas production and reserves to meet the national target of 40 billion barrels.

Kyari stated that Total Nigeria was one of the Corporation’s most important partners with visible outcomes, adding that the partnership would further grow national production and reserves going forward.

“Total Nigeria in the last five years has very visible outcomes that we have seen and I assure you that we will work together to progress all efforts to grow production and national reserves. I also want to put on record that your downstream company has been very supportive in the supply of gasoline into our country,” Kyari stated.

He also assured Sangster of a more transparent and accountable relationship with frameworks that would be appreciated by all.

Recall that the Chairman and Managing Director of ExxonMobil companies in Nigeria, Mr. Paul McGrath had also expressed optimism on the future of the oil industry under the management Kyari.
