We’ll Complete ‘Many Transformational Projects’ – Sanwo-Olu
Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged that his administration will complete and inaugurate several transformational projects across the state in 2026 as part of efforts to consolidate the gains recorded over the past six and a half years.
The governor said the projects would be delivered under the THEMES+ development agenda and supported by the 2026 budget, tagged “The Budget of Shared Prosperity,” which is currently before the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Speaking on Sunday at the 2026 Lagos Annual Thanksgiving Service themed “Grateful for Unfailing Mercies,” held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, Sanwo-Olu noted that his final full-year budget as governor is anchored on four pillars: a human-centred approach, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy and effective governance.
With an expenditure profile exceeding N4 trillion, the governor said the 2026 budget is designed to deliver a cleaner, safer, more prosperous, resilient and inclusive Lagos.
According to him, the thanksgiving service provided an opportunity to appreciate God for His continued mercy and faithfulness to Lagos State and its residents.

Sanwo-Olu said Lagosians would benefit from several construction and rehabilitation projects, including educational and medical facilities, youth and sports centres, drainage and flood control systems, bus and ferry terminals, housing schemes, water projects, waste management plants, court buildings and the Omi Eko project, among others.
“We are now four days into a new year, with 361 days ahead of us – each day filled with promise, potential, and opportunity to improve our State, our country, and indeed, the world. By the special grace of God, Lagos State will not waste this abundance of opportunity that God has placed before us,” he said.
“Under my leadership, we will continue consolidating the gains of the past six and a half years, guided by our THEMES+ vision. We will complete and commission many transformational projects across multiple sectors and in different parts of the State.
“The year 2026 is particularly significant for me, as it marks my last full year as Governor of Lagos State. For this reason, I am deeply driven and compelled to make this year count – deliberately and decisively. It must be a year of extraordinary meaning, significance, and benefit for all of us.”
Among the projects slated for completion and commissioning in 2026, the governor listed the Ojo General Hospital, Odo Iya-Alaro Link Bridge, the new Massey Children’s Hospital, the Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub in Epe, a new Psychiatric Hospital in Ketu Ereyun, Epe, and a new multi-storey office complex in Alausa.

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged President Bola A Tinubu, and praised the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for initiating the annual thanksgiving service during Tinubu’s tenure as governor.
He also appreciated religious leaders for their continued prayers and support for the state.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, his wife, Oluremi; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; current and former public office holders; as well as religious, traditional and political leaders.
