We’ll Go After Oshiomhole, Says ICPC Following Protest

Following the Coalition for New Nigeria’s protest on Wednesday calling for Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s probe, the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has said it will act on the corruption petitions written against the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman.

The coalition had earlier today picketed the national headquarters of the ICPC demanding the immediate probe of the APC Chairman over various alleged corrupt practices.

“Today, the APC which was gaining grounds and welcoming new members is far from the all-embracing party it was when Mr. Oshiomhole took over as National Chairman,” Said CNN’s convener, Barr. Stanley Onu, adding that, “Given the various allegations of corruption by respected chieftains and members of the APC, we are here calling on the various anti-corruption agencies to begin a comprehensive probe of not only these allegations, but his time the governor of Edo state.”

Responding to the group’s call, ICPC’s spokesperson, Rasheedat Okoduwa, told the placard-carrying protesters that the Commission would go after Mr Oshiomhole if it finds any petition against the APC Chairman in its records.

“I have heard you and we thank you people for the peaceful protest here. You have done what you are supposed to do. I want to assure you that your petition will be treated according to its merit and the same manner we treat others,” she assured.

The protesters carried placards baring different inscriptions like: ‘Oshiomhole is corrupt’, ‘Oshiomhole must go’, ‘with Oshiomhole, APC will fail’, ‘ICPC must probe Oshiomhole’, ‘Buhari, remove Oshiomhole now before it is too late’.
