We’re Not Interested In Who Wins Anambra Guber — Police
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Ikioye Orutugu, has reaffirmed neutrality and commitment of the police to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free poll.
The police commissioner gave the assurance during his security advocacy visit to Aguata and Otuocha Area Commands where he met with officers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration ahead of the election.
In a statement on Saturday, CP Orutugu said the “Police is not interested in who wins or loses the election, but is firmly committed to ensuring that the electoral process is peaceful, credible, secure and free of violence before, during and after the polls.”
He charged Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical units to uphold professionalism, discipline, and neutrality while enforcing the law.
He also reminded them to operate strictly in line with the Electoral Act, Police Code of Conduct, and Standard Operating Procedures.
The Commissioner further held stakeholder meetings involving traditional rulers, religious leaders, town union executives, youth and women groups, local vigilantes, and other community structures.

The discussions centred on intelligence sharing, discouraging voter intimidation, countering electoral violence, and promoting peaceful civic participation.
Commending residents of Otuocha for adopting dialogue and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to resolve disputes, the CP encouraged communities to establish internal peace committees for handling civil land disagreements.
He noted that such issues are civil in nature and should not be misdirected as criminal complaints to the Police.
Orutugu also urged Anambra residents to continue their lawful political activities without fear. He warned political actors and supporters against inciting violence or spreading inflammatory statements capable of disrupting public peace.
