What Babcock University’s Student Handbook Says About Sexual Behavior

The expulsion of a 300-level student of Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, seems to be in line with the rules and regulation of the institution.

THE WHISTLER obtained a 2015-2017 bulletin of Babcock University, where it was clearly stated that students are forbidden from conducts that could erode the foundation of the institution’s “identity and uniqueness”.

Outrage had trailed the Christian university’s announcement that it had expelled the female student whose sex video went viral on social media some days back.

The viral video showed the girl having sex with a male who was said to have been expelled from the university in February for grievous misconducts.

“The boy in the video was expelled from Babcock University in February this year after investigation and the due process proved that he was into certain grievous misconducts, the acts for which the university has zero-tolerance,” said a statement by Babcock’s communication and marketing, Joshua Suleiman.

“His girlfriend in the same video, until the video broke out, a third-year student of accounting of this university. After due process, she was expelled from the university for violation of university rules and regulations.

“The place where the immoral act took place, according to her written statement, was at Saint Bridget Hospital, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the boy has been undergoing rehabilitation for different destructive addictions. According to the girl, the incident took place in April this year during school vacation when she visited the boy at the hospital. The act did not take place at Babcock University.”

But some people have condemned the university’s management for expelling the female student since the girl did not engage in the act on campus or during academic session.

But a look at Babcock University’s rules and regulations indicate that the institution has zero tolerance for immoral behaviors from its student, regardless of whether or not it occurs on campus.

Babcock University’s ‘Standards of Conduct’
