What Buhari Said At Osun APC Guber Rally

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Osogbo, Osun State, asked voters to support continuity of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) in the Saturday gubernatorial election in the state to avoid a return to the dark days.

Buhari said this during the in the mega rally organised in support of the APC Guber candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, ahead of the election.

Buhari described Oyetola as the right man for the job, as he urged the electorate in the state to vote the governorship aspirant in order to continue with the development witnessed during Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s eight years reign.

The statement read in parts: “Four years ago I was here along with so many of you to give support to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who was seeking to renew the mandate of the people of Osun for Second term, I was in Osogbo again in 2015 for my presidential campaign, I returned in 2016 to commission Osogbo Government High School, one of the 11 mega schools construction by Rauf’s administration.

“The 2014 gubernatorial election in Osun state took place just a few weeks after our party, the All Progressive Congress has suffered an unexpected set back in Ekiti State, this set back created an atmosphere in which most Nigerians were fervently hoping and praying for the APC to pull back the frontiers of PDP.

“We are here to thank Almighty God for the successful eight years tenure of the APC government in this state under the leadership of His Excellency Rauf Aregbesola, the Olu-mori of Yoruba land, we are also here to pray Almighty God to safeguard and consolidate on this through Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola.

“You are fully aware of this great partnership story, Oyetola is a partner, a trusted adviser, a brother and a friend to governor Rauf. They seamlessly worked together for many years serving you, by electing Oyetola as your governor you are guaranteeing the consolidation of these successes.

“Eight years after Governor Aregbesola took the mantle of leadership, the business of the government of Osun, the state now has excellent infrastructure for primary and secondary schools, the school that I commission in 2016 is one of the best schools in Nigeria, but more works remain to be done. Oyetola is ready for work.

“Osun state has empowerment programs to support entrepreneurs, you have school construction and rehabilitation programs to improve the quality of education, you have the hygiene, sanitation and lives- care program to improve the quality of life, you have security and outreach programs that enhance peace and stability in your communities. These programs are clear examples of what our government want for its people in APC government, a government were all citizens belong.

“We are rehabilitating the Ila Orugun Oke, Ila Ilake Akan road with the sum of 5.19 Billion Naira, we are repairing the Ijeku-Ijesha road, all road to Ekiti State border with the cost of over N500 Million.

“We are committed to completing the abandoned Iwo road as well as the Ojutu Bridge in Iloko, the construction of affordable houses to provide housing opportunities for a group range of residents from diverse social and economic backgrounds are in progress.

“We are building transmission lines and substations across the state to improve electricity supply distribution. We have implemented our social investment programs including school feeding and the implementation of agricultural projects that have supported thousands of farmer.

“We have signed the 6.6 Billion US Dollars rail contract for the Ibadan – Kaduna rail line. This line will pass through Osogbo, thereby to Osun to not only Ibadan and Lagos but also to Ilorin, Minna and Kaduna. There will be also a single train rail line that will connect Osogbo to Ado-Ekiti.

“We are also completing some very old road whose contract was awarded many roads ago, The Ife-Ondo road that was awarded 12 years ago and the Gbonga- Kwara State road which was awarded 9 years ago.

“We have decided to complete them in other to improve the lives of our citizens in spite of the level of resources available to us, these and many other infrastructural projects will further open up Osun and its citizens to the rest of the country.

“We will continue to complete all strategic projects, we will also continue to develop and implement new infrastructural projects, this is our covenant not only to Osun but to all Nigerians.

“Ladies and gentlemen as you can see our party has no tolerance for corruption, we will continue to ensure inclusiveness and economic diversification.

“Nigerians keep the corrupt and selfish leaders out of the federal government in 2015 and by the grace of God, the voters will continue to keep them out of leadership positions until we permanently concise our corrupt government lifestyle into history books.

“Children of all Nigerians should get quality infrastructure, education, health care and job opportunities. This is why you must all come out to vote for the APC on the 22 September 2018. Osun must remain APC, Osun continue in the path of progress, Osun must not allow the dark days to return.”

Aregbesola while also addressing the supporters said,” We are winning the election of Saturday, September 22 by the grace of God and we are coming back to jubilate. Why must God support us? Because we have worked 24 hours of every single day of the 2922 days allowed by the constitution to serve the people of this state. Merely looking at me will testify to that fact.

“Our party has done the impossible here, we have changed the face of Osun and for that reason and the will and power of God, we are returning Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola on September 22 as the governor-elect and we are returning Benedict Oluwagboyega Alabi as the deputy governor-elect. Both of them will be sworn in on Tuesday, November 27,” he added.
