What ECOWAS, AU, UN Said After PDP Rejected Presidential Results

The United Nations, African Union (AU) and ECOWAS have urged political parties to exercise “patience, calm and restraint” as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announces the presidential results.

The party was specifically addressing “one of the participating political parties” that had rejected the presidential results which is still being collated by the electoral body.

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a press briefing by its national chairman, Uche Secondus, had rejected the results, stating that the results had been altered.

The international bodies said, “The attention of the ECOWAS, AU and the UN has been drawn to the rejection of the results of the presidential election of Feb.23, 2019 by one of the participating political parties, even as they are still in the process of being released.

“ECOWAS, AU and the UN call on all candidates, political parties and indeed all Nigerians to continue to exercise patience, calm and restraint, in order to allow for the full results of the election to be released by INEC,” the statement read.

They further encouraged aggrieved parties and persons to resort to legal means to seek redress, in accordance with the Constitution and relevant laws, as agreed in the Peace Accord of February 13.

We should try to embrace defeat just as we do with victory as no one is perfect but God.
    God bless Nigeria.

most of us Nigerians accept victory when it’s ours or on our side but are quick to condemn the umpire body when defeat stares us in the face. clearly and admittedly there must be flaws in any exercise of this magnitude but to sit down in your room and assume that everyone else thinks like you or must look at issues with your own eyes is blindness at it’s dangerous level. let us be more objective and leave ethnicity and religion out of our national polity and we’ll develop faster.

I appreciate your sincere maturity comments Joe Egwu.

It’s high time we started looking above ethnicity and religious hatred, and start living as one brother in this entity called Nigeria.

In every race there must be winner and loser, the maturity to celebrate lowly and carries every one along as well as accepted defeat when situation arises is what makes us a complete leader.

    God bless Nigeria.

We should stop saying accept defeat when you know the other person won by trick,if we don’t try to stop them from using our head now when would we or are we going to let our children go through this

  • Sarki Ummar

Your Comment. PDP rigged elections in this country and are expert in rigging. So anyone who win election in a clean manner they consider it as rigging. Once a thief always a thief and considers everyone as such, even their own family.

  • I am Royal

    I greet you all Nigerians
Let me remind you that most of us are sick and tired of this continuous denied of Human Rights and maltreatment from our leader. You tell me is very normal for some group of people to continue toying with our head, and nobody is going to do anything about it, is out time we call a spade a spade. I don’t care APC or PDP wins, but my care concern is give the people their mandate, stop treating us like mumu, like we don’t even have sense anymore, you come out and say vote and then after voting you go behind and change the results. You tell me why, let the decision of the people stand at least for once, all of you have played us too long.
God bless Nigeria and God bless sincere mouth
