WHO Confirms 6 Ebola Cases In DRC Within 10 Days

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that after many days of no case, six new cases of Ebola have been recorded in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This was disclosed in Geneva by WHO Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

“After fifty four days without case, there have now been six cases of Ebola in the past ten days and no cases in the past two days, of course,” he said.

He said WHO was swinging into action with relevant bodies to ensure that the outbreak does not become an uncontrollable disaster.

“We are continuing to work hard with out partners to support the government to ensure that this pack does not become a larger fire.

“Yesterday marked one year our colleague, Richard Musoko, from Cameron, was killed while working on the Ebola response,” he added.

The Ebola virus disease (EVD)is a viral haemorrhagic fever of humans and other primates caused by ebolaviruses.

In March 2016, WHO said it was no longer an emergency.
