A stakeholder in the constituency and special adviser to the governor, Hon Francis Ede, told our correspondent that, “I think the decision to allow Mrs Amaka Ugwueze to complete the tenure of her late husband, who spent one and a half years in office as a member, Enugu State House of Assembly, before death came calling is a wise decision, and well received by the generality of the people of Isi-Uzo LGA. It was born out of sympathy for the lady whose husband died young while pursuing his dream for his people. He was a hard-working politician and industrialist; very kind and philanthropic. It shows that we can be our brother’s keeper. And I am sure that the lady will strive with the utmost of her abilities to justify this confidence upon her by the people of Isi-Uzo LGA.”

Meanwhile, Mr Emmanuel Okewulonu, Saturday, emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for the Imo North senatorial bye-election scheduled for October 31. According to Mr Chuba Oramisi, chairman, PDP National Electoral Committee, Okewulonu polled 609 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Patrick Ndubueze, who secured 27 votes.
