Wike Dissociates Self From Facebook Posting On Taraba Tribunal Judgment

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has dissociated himself from a statement posted on his Facebook page, which criticized the judgment of the Taraba State Governorship Election Tribunal which annulled the election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Governor Darius Ishaku and declared the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Aisha Alhassan winner of April 11, 2015 poll.

A statement signed by his Special Assistant (Media ), Simeon Nwakaudu, on Monday, enjoined Nigerians to disregard the fake Facebook posting, adding that Wike does not run any such Facebook page where the uncomplimentary remarks were made.

The fake Facebook post read:

“Rape of Justice: Election Tribunal could sit in Boko Haram main zone in Borno and Yobe whereas rivers and Taraba was moved to Abuja due to security reasons is Yobe and Borno more secured than Rivers and Taraba? Our democrasy is crying under APC and Buhari”

The statement said Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at a well publicised stakeholders meeting at the Government House, Port Harcourt declared that he has never authorised any aide to make uncomplimentary remarks on the judiciary.

“The governor as a lawyer respects the judiciary and will never disparage it,” it said.

Wike urged all the social media platforms and blogs that have published the post from the fake Facebook Page, ‘Nyesom Wike’ to pull down same as they do not represent the views of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

Wike, who said the post was another scheme by the opposition to use unverified social media platforms to mislead members of the public, added that he will never be distracted by these unfortunate illegal political schemes.
