Wike Hails Giolee Global’s ‘Gigantic’ Port Harcourt Headquarters
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended Giolee Global Resources for “gigantic” infrastructure investment in Rivers State, noting that the company’s new corporate headquarters in Port Harcourt meets international standards.
Wike spoke on Friday at the inauguration of the firm’s corporate headquarters, where he said he was taken by surprise by the scale and quality of the project.
“When the managing director came to invite me to commission a corporate office, I was thinking it was like a one-block building. On getting to this place, I never knew that we have such a gigantic infrastructure,” the minister said.
He praised the management and staff of Giolee Global Resources for not only establishing the company but also sustaining it to a level where it now boasts a world-class facility.

“It’s one thing to establish a company; it’s another thing to run the company, manage it well, and it turns out this way,” Wike added.

The former Rivers State governor highlighted the importance of government support for investors, stressing that access to land documentation, particularly Certificates of Occupancy, is critical to business growth and access to financing.
“One of the things to ease doing business is to make sure that people have access to the certificate of occupancy for them to have access to the bank,” he said, while reflecting on policies implemented during his tenure as governor.
Wike expressed satisfaction that the company chose to site the project in Port Harcourt rather than Lagos or Abuja, describing the decision as a boost to local employment, revenue generation, and economic development.
“I’m happy that you did not go to establish this in Lagos or Abuja, but provided this here, employed our people, and are paying taxes to the government. That is an encouragement,” he said.
He also lauded the firm’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, including the provision of a 500KVA transformer and the sponsorship of school fees for 50 students.

“There are so many companies that don’t care about corporate social responsibility. You are paying the school fees of 50 students, and that is very commendable,” Wike noted.
The minister further disclosed that the company has opened its facilities to science students for excursions, allowing them to gain practical exposure to industrial operations.
He said, “You have made it possible for students who study science to come here for excursions and see what it takes. That is also an encouragement to our people”.
Wike thanked the host community for its cooperation, which he said contributed to the timely completion of the project, and urged leaders to continue creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Giolee Global Resources, Mr. Lesi Mail, thanked the minister for honouring the invitation, and praised Wike’s record of infrastructure development during his tenure as Rivers State governor and now as FCT minister.
Mail said the company’s planned corporate social responsibility initiatives include the provision of a 500KVA transformer to the host community, payment of school fees for 50 graduate students, employment opportunities for community youths, and excursion visits for secondary school students to the facility.
