Odunayo is currently ranked number three globally and represented Nigeria at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Adekuoroye said after the match that she was grateful to God Almighty for allowing her to win the competition in her category.

She said she was also happy to have booked a ticket to the African Wrestling Championships holding in February at the same venue.

“My next target is doing exceedingly well at the forthcoming African championships.

I’ll go back to training and not relent on my efforts. “I know that we will shortly resume in camp ahead of the African Championships.

“I believe I still have work to do on myself, because I will be competing among other players from Africa.

“We will all equally be fighting to beat one another. So, I need to be fully prepared,’’ Adekuoroye said.

The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), prior to the competition, had said that gold medalists at the competition would represent Nigeria at the African Championships.

Other female wrestlers who won in their different weight categories are Blessing Oborodudu, Aminat Adeniyi, Mercy Genesis, Blessing Onyebuchi, Hannah Reuben, Kemesuode Dressman, Bose Samuel, Ifeoma Nwoye and Bisola Makanjuola.
