Wike: Rivers to Commence Complete Rehabilitation of Schools

Speaking after he inspected the old and shabby looking government comprehensive secondary school Borikiri on Tuesday, governor Wike regretted that most of the model schools were allowed to rot by the former administration

Wike said that a committee has been set up by the administration to compile the list of the schools that will need immediate intervention while stressing that the committee will also compile all the facilities needed to put the schools in shape for proper learning to take place.

Governor Wike also directed that the trespass of schools by residents should be checked by officials of the State Ministry of Education.

Governor Wike said: “I was shocked by the deplorable condition that the immediate past administration left the government comprehensive secondary school, Borikiri. The school that produced several notable personalities in the state and we shall restore all facilities

“We are also working towards restoring all prominent model schools across the state. A committee has been set up to draw up a list of schools and the necessary requirements to revive such schools”.

While stating that education remains one of his priorities governor Wike assured that his administration will revive the state’s educational sector which was left abandoned by the immediate past administration.

Governor Wike also said that his administration will rehabilitate roads in Biama suburb of Port Harcourt, adding that rehabilitation of roads at Borikiri will be extended to the area.

The governor was accompanied on the inspection tour by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara and former Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo.
