Withdrawal Of ‘Corrupt’ ICPC Nominees Shows APC’s Incompetence – Omokri

Reno Omokri has attacked the presidency over the withdrawal of two nominees of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) board who are under investigation for alleged corruption.

Omokri, a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, described the withdrawal of the ICPC board members as a show of incompetence on the part of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The presidency had ordered Ms. Maimuna Aliyu and Mr. Sa’ad Alanamu to step down as members of the ICPC board after they were fingered in a N1billion corruption scandal.

But according to Omokri, the APC-led administration could have saved itself the embarrassment if it had screened officials before nominating them for such positions.

In his reaction to the matter, Omokri said, “Wouldn’t it have been more prudent to have screened them for these ‘ongoing investigation issues’ before nominating them in the first place?

“This act, while spinned to look like transparency, is actually evidence of incompetence; the same type of incompetence that led to the Department of State Security indicting the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before the Senate,” he said.
